Come join us for fellowship, fun and prizes on Tues., Sept. 4, 11, & 25. Please bring a new household item valued at least $1 for the bingo prize table (e.g. paper products, liquid soap, dish towel, potholder, microwave popcorn, candy, etc.) No items with business logos PLEASE! The fun starts at 10:30 a.m. at South Iredell Senior Center. Each person is to donate an item toward the game in order to play. Feel free to bring your favorite refreshment to share. Whether playing bingo or not, all bingo prize donations are appreciated and help to make the game that much more fun.   Table Tennis Lessons Have you always wanted to learn how to play table tennis and the rules that apply? Here’s your chance, Tom Miller will be at South Iredell Senior Center on Tues., Sept. 4          from 2-3 p.m. for anyone serious about learning the game of table tennis. Cost is $5 per person at the door. Table tennis is a sanctioned event by North Carolina Senior Games and is offered every spring as a competitive event by Iredell Senior Games.   Yoga Yoga is a great way to stay healthy, strengthen and tone your body. Yoga at the South Iredell Senior Center is taught by Debbie Wyatt, AFAA, Yoga certified instructor, every Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Cost is $30 for a six week class session. The next session will start on Wed., Sept. 5. Pre-registration is required by payment prior to Tues., Sept. 4. Call 704-662-3337 for more information.   Massage Therapy A massage positively affects blood pressure, pulse, and skin temperature. It increases lymph flow rate by 7-9 times. Massages are now available at South Iredell Senior Center. The next sessions will be held on Mon., Sept. 10 & 11. Appointments are required. Massage therapy is particularly valuable for the problems associated with growing older. The benefits of massage encompass conditions that may arise with age, such as: muscular stiffness, arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, and respiratory problems such as asthma and emphysema. Massage encourages circulation, decreases muscular stiffness, and helps to decrease inflammation that may rest in the joints. Careful massage can help provide the elderly with symptomatic relief and enable seniors to extend the vitality in their lives. Senior rate is $20 for a 30 minute session. Call 704-662-3337 for an appointment.   Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program The Senior Center is now accepting registration for an evidence based exercise program. This six week recreational program is highly recommended by the Arthritis Foundation and will be held at the Senior Center every Tuesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. starting Sept. 11 through Oct. 16, 2012. Although this one hour class is designed for people with arthritis, it is open to all senior adults. Exercise and stretching should be a part of a person’s routine no matter what age they are. There is no fee to take the class, but a commitment to attend and prior registration is required by Sept. 10, 2012. For more information or to register call the Senior Center at 704-662-3337.
